How To Develop a Winning Product In 72 Hours
Jason Potash
"Where do I begin?"
If you've ever thought about creating your own product,
you've inevitably asked yourself this question before.
The good news is, creating the next *killer* product is
easier than you might think. In fact, if you have an ezine
or website, you're already 75% of the way there. More about
this later on.
Before you jump in and create a product, you need to do
your homework first. The key to any successful product is
fundamentally based on these three factors:
How do you get the answers to these questions? It's simple.
You ask your website visitors or ezine subscribers a series
of questions in the form of a survey.
Before you go posting 20 questions onto your website, here
are a few tips that will make your survey a success:
1. Keep your questions short and brief. No one wants to
spend 15 minutes answering 10 questions.
2. What's in it for me? Why should anyone take the time to
complete your survey? You MUST offer an incentive for
response -- free gift, ebook download, etc. Make sure
that it has perceived value.
3. Mention the purpose of your survey. "To help our loyal
subscribers succeed" or "help us understand what matters
most to you". You get the idea...
4. Protect their privacy. Ensure each participant that they
will not be spammed with product info.
You'll also need to identify your target market (gardeners,
health enthusiasts, network marketers, etc.).
For example, if your website/ezine targets gardeners, don't
survey them about a completely unrelated topic (i.e.
sailing, pet grooming, etc.).
If your target market is gardeners, think about potential
products that would be of value to them. What are their
wants, needs, challenges, pains, demographics?
Thinking through this process will help you when crafting
your survey questions.
To help get you started, here are a few free "survey" web
scripts that you can plug right into your website.
