As we discussed on the previous page, there are basically three steps to starting your own home based e-Commerce business. Here we will discuss step one.

What will your product be??

This is a the absolute first decision you have to make. My friend Jim Daniels has some terrific ideas in his book... Make a Living Online. His first book, "Insider Internet Marketing" was invaluable to me! It literally launched my online career... but his newest masterpiece... Make a Living Online is even more comprehensive. (By the way, the thing I appreciate most about Jim Daniels is that he's an everyday person, just like you and me!!)

Let's brainstorm a minute here.......say you want to make a sight similar to this one..... Well, as he mentions in the "Make A Living Online!" book, your best bet is to promote your own products so you can make the most possible money. Do you have a product in mind and ready to go?  No?  then WHAT WILL YOU SELL? I mean c'mon..... it takes time to create and develope a good information package.....(trust me! :-)

So in your business plan......you HAVE to have a business plan!) you write down....."create and promote my VERY OWN PRODUCT!" And for right now you can write down....."find reseller programs to promote on my site." George Carlin said "Nail together two things that have never been nailed together before and some schmuck will buy it from you!" Now, I don't mean to imply anything other than the internet is a vast place, people are looking for all kinds of information and remember.... You can put a price tag on it.

There are affiliate programs available in just about any product or service category you can imagine so this strategy can apply to just about any business.

But it is also a good idea to get to work on your product/service right away. These resources will help. And in the mean time start implementing step two and three.
